Rubik - The hidden beauty of Mirdita
Mirdita, for many people, remains a mystery. This part of Albania bears a very valuable abundance of archaeological, ethnographic, linguistic and folkloric traditions, but still little is known by the public opinion. Among centuries, the independent character of the population has enabled the maintenances of some of the earliest traditions of Northern Albania. A tradition that combines different elements: from prehistory and the pagan cults of the sun and the moon to the Illyrian heritage, from the medieval towers to the period of autonomy de facto within the Ottoman Empire, finishing with the industrial heritage of the socialist period, and the dissent against the communist regime in the infamous prison cells of Spaç. Legends and history, love and war, breath-taking landscapes and ruins of a former industrial glory: you can find it all, at their highest authenticity.
